Deadlines Begone!

Inspired by my brother Kyle's three posts in a row, I (Luke) thought it appropriate to update our friends and family on how we're doing.

We're doing great, thanks for asking.

Kristen and I both had huge projects/research/presentations that were due fairly recently. Let me first say that we have the most amazing friends and family for being so supportive and prayerful as these deadlines approached. We love you all and are very humbled at the grace of God for giving us the relationships we have with you.

My deadline was a presentation at a conference in Savannah, GA and writing a subsequent paper. Let's just say that it could have gone better, but most importantly, it's over. If you think you might be interested in reading it, I might suggest that you don't - the title of the paper is "FPGA Implementation of a Vector Tracking GPS Receiver Using Model-Based Tools." See?

Now Kristen, on the other hand, had her huge presentation this past Wednesday and it apparently went very well. If you haven't been lucky enough to hear Kristen speak, I suggest you go ahead and book her as the keynote speaker to your next birthday party because she is an absolutely fantastic presenter. Plus, she's absolutely brilliant and was able to fend off questions from the audience like a pharmaceutical ninja.

So to celebrate, we're heading to Atlanta for the weekend! We don't have to many things on the itinerary except to get some running shoes at Fleet Feet, possibly watch a movie (in an actual theater, imagine that!), watch our Auburn Tigers remember why we started at 5-0, discover some new parks, and chow down on some scrum-diddly-umptious foodstuffs.

If you're reading this and wish to steal things from our house while we're gone, keep in mind that the average age of our neighbors on both sides of our house is roughly 70 and they enjoy nothing better than reporting strange cars and strange people to the police. The old folks on our street have a pretty tight grasp of what a neighborhood watch is supposed to look like. Here is a map to our house.

I have a tendency to think that I have nothing to talk about and then before I know it, I've written a few hundred words. Guess I turn into a "narcissistic idiot" when I start typing. (Bwahaha, Kyle, sorry, I couldn't help it!)

Lagniappe:
- Andy McKee's "Rylynn" (for you acoustic guitar fans)
- Shawn and Katie Sandlin (a couple from our church in Auburn - 2nd song's my favorite)
